Biggest Internet Dating Mistakes

Are you interested in internet dating but you don’t seem to have much luck with it? If so, you’re not alone. However, the lack of success you’re experiencing may be because you’re unwittingly making some classic internet dating mistakes.

1. Don’t Have A Sexy Nickname

You may be tempted to give yourself a sexy nickname because you think it will make you stand out, but it could give people the wrong impression. For instance, if your nickname is Sexonlegs, many people on the dating site will assume you’re just interested in one thing. You may get a lot of emails, but it’s highly doubtful that any of them would be from a potential long term boyfriend or girlfriend, let alone a prospective husband or wife.

2. Don’t Show Suggestive Or Naked Photos In Your Profile

You may think that showing off what you think are your best assets will draw in interested men or women but the reverse may be true. As with having a sexy nickname, you’ll be attracting the wrong kind of people who think that you’re only interested in casual sex. Instead, post attractive, current photos of yourself with your clothes on and without any risqué poses. You may be pleasantly surprised at the responses you receive.

3. Don’t Give Out Too Much Personal Information Too Soon

It’s important that you stay safe while you explore the online dating world. One way to do this is to keep your personal information to yourself. Don’t give out your home or work address or phone numbers, until you’ve exchanged emails with the person you’re interested in and gotten to know them as well as you can through email. The last thing you want is a crazy stalker knowing where you live or calling you constantly on your landline.

4. Make Sure You Contact The Members You’re Attracted To

If you’re a woman and you like the look of a man on a dating site, then don’t wait for him to contact you as it may never happen. Instead, make the first contact yourself. After all, nothing ventured, nothing gained. He may not have seen your profile or he may be too shy to make the first contact. Just keep it polite and friendly, and you might be surprised at what could develop!
